Notes from meditation on Gita:
Apuryamanam achala-pratishtham samudram apah pravisanti yadvat,
A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires—that enter like rivers into the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still—can alone achieve peace, and not the man who strives to satisfy such desires.

You are like an ocean.  Waves of thoughts continuously raise and fall in the ocean called you.  The shore called ‘Dharma’ (virtue) keeps the ocean called you in control.  Ocean gets disturbed when there is cyclone, it tries to overrun the shore, it becomes a tsunami. Same way, when your daily life gets bogged down in the cyclone called situations, you might try to overlook your virtue.  You might be propelled to do the the opposite of being virtuous.  You might be propelled to ruthlessly destroy the world around you.  Believing that you are like an ocean; believing that you will always be virtuous  believing that you know how to take good care of your life there are many beings who innocently and quite confidently stand at the shores of your life!  Your parents, your wife, your children, your friends and many other people internally believe in your vitue and stand by your side.  Hence even though you are surrounded by a mighty cyclone never lose your virtue.  Never lose the sight of people who believe in you.  Never become a tyrant.  Never cause to bring tears in the eyes of people who believed in you.  Never desert them.  Dharma protected shall protect you….  -Madhava Turumella 16/01/2012
