Bush blames Indian middle class for rising food prices - HE IS RIGHT!!!
Mood:  accident prone
Topic: As I think

Greed based thinking harms people in many ways!  It ruins the world for sure…

I do not understand why world has to get angry about the remarks made by President Bush about Indian Middle class!  There are 350 million people in India who are classified as middle class. That’s bigger than America.  90% of these recent middle class are from Technology sector or who gained as a direct result of the purchasing power of the Technology sector.

For any purchase there need to be two people like two sides of the same coin.  There has to be a buyer and there has to be a seller. Bush only mentioned about the Buyers --- the middle class of India.

Unfortunately, Middle-class of India is totally blind to what is happening to the world with their buying behaviour.   They are becoming reckless in purchasing.  They just don’t even bother asking for the price anymore,   because they have access to money.   The purchasing power is really blinding them.

As a direct consequence the sellers in India are becoming greedy.  Seller knows that the buyer is not questioning about the price rasie.  So the sellers are shooting-up the price for certain commodities.  It is very easy to do so in uncontrolled markets like India.  What ever control that is exerted by Government is miniscule.

For example I visited India in 2004 and remember buying something for Rs. 100 and in the end of year 2007 I was trying to buy the very same thing but the cost was Rs. 500!  That was 5 times increase in just 3 years time.   It is easy to do the math… just add “Greed” to it and you can easily understand the equation!   When I protested the price rise, the seller couldn’t understand my poing. More over,  the seller gave me a moral lecture… He was saying that I live abroad and earn in Sterling so I shouldn’t bother about paying the price. He was very direct.  He says I shouldn’t question the price rise.  As if doing so was ethically wrong!

Now since I agreed to President Bush over his statement that Indian Middle Class is responsible for raising the prices of world commodities, let me also tell you that America is totally responsible for the raise of Indian Middle Class.

America is pouring money in to India in the name of Outsourcing!  This is giving rise to all the problems.   I fear the day when India stops receiving outsourcing work.  Indian middle class would go crazy, just like a drug addict having withdrawal symptoms.

Outsourcing is harming Indian economy.  And harms global economy too…  The world as a whole got  much thinking to do.

I believe outsourcing to India is causing a kind of  Butterfly affect. The butterfly effect is a phrase which encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory. Small variations of the initial condition of a nonlinear dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behaviour of the system.   The developed world must not overlook this.
